During your four years of studying in the Bachelor program of Languages and Cultures of Southeast Asia you will aquire profound language skills in one Southeast Asian language of your choice (either Thai, Indonesian or Vietnamese) and basic skills in one other Southeast Asian language. Moreover you will gain deep insights into the cultures of Southeast Asia.We offer studying in a relaxing atmosphere with small groups, individual guidance and a mandatory semester abroad in the region of your focus. You can choose between Thai Studies, Vietnamese Studies and Austronesian Studies.

Content of Thai Studies
Overview about the whole region of Southeast Asian in four basic modules. Two modules focused on Thailand’s culture, politics etc. Several times a week you will attend classes to learn the Thai language. In your second year you will start to learn a second Southeast Asian language (either Indonesian or Vietnamese) or Sanskrit.
Semester abroad
The new eight-semester BA course “Languages and Cultures of Southeast Asia” (with the specialist profile Thai Studies) also includes a semester abroad at one of our Thai partner universities. For this we have concluded long-term cooperation agreements (or are in the process of doing so).
Our partner universities currently include the following:

- Khon Kaen University
- Maejo University (Chiang Mai)
- Naresuan University (Phitsanulok).
Final module
In your final module you will take part in a colloquium, write your Bachelor thesis and have an oral examination.
